Quantity pricing

The price per roll falls as the quantity rises. A tier applies from its quantity upward until the next one begins, so a quantity between two tiers is charged at the lower tier’s rate. Order value is the goods cost at that tier’s own starting quantity, excluding freight. Your quantity is highlighted as you change it above.

About this product

Heavy-duty aluminum foil (also spelled aluminium foil) on an 18 in × 1000 ft roll at 80 gauge — the width and weight most commercial kitchens, caterers and food producers run for covering pans, lining trays and wrapping. Each roll is packed in its own cutter box, so it can sit on a shelf or a prep table and be torn off cleanly against the serrated edge.

One roll holds 1,500 square feet of foil. Cut into 12 in lengths that is about 1,000 sheets of 18 × 12 in, or around 460 liners for a full-size 18 × 26 in sheet pan. The minimum order is 7 rolls, and the price falls at 24, 48 and 96 rolls.

Why heavy duty

Foil is sold in weights, and the weight decides what it survives. Heavy-duty foil at 80 gauge is thick enough to cover a loaded hotel pan, line a sheet pan under roasted bone-in meat and hold its shape when carried, where lighter standard foil tears at the corners or lets a sharp bone through. It costs more per roll than standard foil, but a lighter foil that has to be doubled over to do the same job costs more per pan. Our guide to heavy-duty versus standard foil sets out the weights and when each one is the right choice.

How it ships

Foil is dense. A single roll weighs about 7.6 kg (16.7 lb), so even the minimum order is about 53 kg and the freight is a real part of the cost. Freight is always quoted separately; tell us the delivery address and we quote it before you pay. A roll cannot be sent as a loose parcel without risk to the box, so larger orders go on a pallet.

What this line is not

This is plain aluminum foil on a roll. We make no claim about a specific alloy, a recycled-content figure or a food-contact certificate until the supplier has given us the paperwork; ask for it with your enquiry if you need it for an audit. It is not a coated, embossed, printed or pre-cut product, and it is not intended for use in a microwave.

Frequently asked questions

What does 80 gauge mean for foil?

Gauge is a US measure of thickness: 100 gauge is one thousandth of an inch (1 mil), so 80 gauge is 0.0008 in, or about 20 micron. It is the usual specification sold as heavy duty in 18 in rolls. Some makers sell a heavier 100 gauge roll and call that heavy duty too, so always compare the number rather than the label.

Is 7 rolls really the minimum?

Yes. Every product has a minimum order worth at least $500, and for this foil that is 7 rolls, which comes to $525. A roll is 1,500 square feet and weighs about 7.6 kg, so seven is already a substantial order for a single kitchen. If you use less than about one roll a month, a catering wholesaler is a better fit than we are, and we would rather say so.

Which side of the foil goes against the food?

Either. One side is bright and the other matte only because of how the two sheets are rolled together in the last pass. Cooking performance is the same on both sides, and the difference is cosmetic.

How many pans does one roll cover?

Cut into 12 in lengths, one roll gives about 1,000 sheets of 18 × 12 in, enough to cover a half-size steam table pan. For lining a full-size 18 × 26 in sheet pan it gives about 460 liners. Allow extra if you fold the foil over the rim.

Is it safe for food contact and the oven?

Aluminum foil is made for cooking and for wrapping food, and heavy-duty foil is oven safe and freezer safe. We do not publish a food-contact certificate or an alloy grade on this page because we do not hold the supplier paperwork yet. If you need it for an audit, ask with your enquiry and we will confirm before you order. Do not use foil in a microwave.

Do you supply other widths, such as 12 in or 15 in, or lighter foil?

Not as stocked lines. Send the width, length, gauge and quantity through the quote request form and we will price it. Lighter standard foil costs less per roll but tears more easily; see our guide on heavy-duty versus standard foil before you choose.
